Israel Gives People With Autism a Place in the Military

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) has mandated military service for all 18 year-olds in the nation but it wasn’t until recently that people with Autism were allowed to sign up.

The Unit 9900 of the IDF now has servicemen who have been diagnosed with Autism.

The Atlantic spoke to one of these young recruits, who works as a decoder for the IDF and he said that he found the job highly relaxing, “like a hobby.”

The IDF has previously been criticized for their operations in Palestine, and their work in the West Bank and the Gaza strip. It is good to know that they are at least accepting of Autistic people.
