An elderly Japanese man spent two years planting thousands of flowers all in the name of love.
Toshiyuki Kuroki and his wife were ready to spend their retirement touring the country when Kuroki’s wife lost her eyesight due to complications from diabetes.
According to The Telegraph, this led to her depression, which made her lock herself away from the world.
That’s when Toshiyuki decided to give her some flowers — over 10,000 of them to be exact.
RocketNews24 reports that Toshiyuki planted thousands of strong scented Shibazakura flowers or moss phlox all around their home so that his blind wife could enjoy the blooms through her other senses.
The former dairy farmer also hoped that the flowers would bring more people to their home to keep his lonely wife company.
And his romantic gesture seemed to work.
More than 7,000 visitors flock to the Kuroki’s flower garden in the spring. Putting a smile on Mrs. Kuroki’s face every day.
