Some heroes don’t wear capes.
A pastor in South Carolina defied authorities and waded through waist-deep waters to retrieve a floating casket because it was the right thing to do.
“That’s somebody’s family out there,” Reeves told WCBD News 2. “That’s (a) family suffering. That’s their family there that popped up from under the ground. And I think it’s the human thing to do.”
WCBD News reports that the casket Reeves retrieved belonged to a woman that who was buried in the cemetery just last May.
“This family doesn’t want to sit out on the edge of the road all night long watching their family members bob in and the water out there, that’s just not who we are,” Reeves said. “If that was my mama or my dad, I would walk through hell or high water…and today it happened to be high water.”
CNN also reports that another casket was recovered by Dorchester County Sheriff’s official which belonged to the man married to the woman whose casket Reeves retrieved.
