Meet 17-year-old Aslan and his puppy, Rose.
When Aslan Al Hakim, like many before him, fled his home in Damascus, Syria he only brought two things with him: a small bag and his four-legged pal, Rose.
The two kept each other company through an arduous 300-mile journey from Syria to the Greek island of Lesbos.
And when people asked why he did not leave his dog behind, Aslan had a very simple answer: “I love my dog.”
Cue the tears and The Proclaimers’ “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)”.
